Call for Research

Q 1 - Who can submit a research paper?

Anyone with an interest in Rural Buddhist Heritage can participate — including students, independent researchers, practitioners, faculty, conservationists, and professionals from related fields.

Q 2 - What is the theme of the conference?

Submissions may relate to one or more of the following three core themes:

  1. DEVELOPING KNOWLEDGE of Buddhist Architectural Culture and its Conservation
    • Materials, techniques, iconography, decorative arts, and continuing skills
    • Defining tangible and intangible heritage and their interdependence for living heritage traditions
    • Intangible heritage – rituals, language & traditions
    • Preserving Buddhist chants, scripts, and oral traditions
  2. EXPLORING SYNERGIES between Contemporary Communities and Buddhist Legacies
    • Sustainable development, pilgrimage, tourism and its linkages
    • Identification of and planning for conservation and development of rural Buddhist heritage sites – Indian and international experiences
    • Safeguarding pilgrimage traditions
    • Engaging monastic and lay communities in heritage conservation
  3. TRANSLATING CONSCIOUSNESS INTO ACTION for the Benefit of Rural Societies
    • Funding, partnerships & sustainability
    • Collaborations with universities and Buddhist institutions
    • Engaging government agencies and international bodies (UNESCO, ICCROM, ICOMOS)

    Q 3 - What are the submission steps and requirements?
    • Step 1 – Apply
      • Abstract Guidelines:
        • Times new roman - 12
        • Name of the Author/ Authors
        • Short CV Profile (150 – 300 words)
        • Title of paper
        • Text of abstract 300-500 words (in word & pdf format both)
        • Keyword up to 8

        • Affiliation of author/ authors with university/ institutes
        • Passport-size photo (150 dpi, JPG format)

    • Step 2 – Review

    Your abstract will be reviewed by the technical committee. If selected, a confirmation email will be sent by 15th September 2025.

    • Step 3 – Submit Full Paper

    Selected participants will be invited to submit a full paper of 2500–3000 words, along with relevant photos for presentation and possible publication & register as a delegate by paying a nominal fee.   

    Q 4 - What are the key deadlines?
    • Abstract Submission Deadline: 31st August 2025
    • Notification of Selection: 15th September 2025
    • Full Paper Submission Deadline: 2nd November 2025
    Q 5 - Can I participate if I don’t wish to submit a paper?

    Yes. You are welcome to attend the conference (either online or offline) without presenting a paper.

    Q 6 - Is there a registration fee?

    Yes, a nominal registration fee will apply for both presenters and attendees.

    We aim to keep the conference affordable, especially for students and early-career researchers.

    Q 7 - Does the registration fee include accommodation?

    No. The registration fee does not include accommodation or travel.

    However, we will provide a list of nearby hotels and affordable stay options to you, if you need assistance. 

    Q 8 - Can I submit a paper but not attend the conference?

    Yes, you may submit a paper even if you are unable to attend the conference in person or online.

    If selected, we may request a pre-recorded video presentation or written summary for documentation purposes. Your work will still be considered for publication, subject to editorial review.


    Q 9 - What format should the full paper follow?

    Selected participants will receive a detailed paper submission guide, including structure, citation style (APA), and image instructions. Papers must be original and unpublished.

    Q 10 - I may not be able to travel to India. Can I still be part of the conference?

    Yes, the PRBH Conference 2025 will offer online participation options for those who cannot attend in person. Whether you are a speaker, presenter, student, or interested attendee, you can join select sessions and engage with the conference remotely. Further details will be shared closer to the event. 

    Q 11 - What will be done with the submitted papers?

    The selected papers will be presented during the conference and the rest will be part of the conference proceedings.
