Bio
Born in 1984 in Lari village, Spiti Valley, in the Indian Himalayas, His Eminence Serkong Tsenshap Rinpoche was recognized at the age of two as the reincarnation of Kyabje Tsenshap Serkong Tugse Rinpoche (1914–1983) by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama. He entered Ganden Jangtse Monastery in South India at the age of six, where he received his classical monastic education in Buddhist philosophy, debate, and practice. He later pursued advanced studies at the Institute of Buddhist Dialectics (IBD) in Dharamsala, earning the degree of Master of Madhyamika Philosophy. A devoted practitioner of the great Nalandā Tradition and a lifelong student, His Eminence continues his training in advanced Buddhist studies while residing in Dharamsala. His Eminence now teaches widely across India and at Dharma centers worldwide, including in Europe, North America, and Asia. He offers commentaries on key philosophical texts, reflecting the depth of these teachings while presenting them in a way that is accessible and relevant to contemporary understanding. He also offers guidance on meditation practice and speaks at public lectures exploring the application of Buddhist principles to modern life.
